Star of the upcoming “Obi-Wan Kenobi” series Ewan McGregor recently revealed that he had a pretty frightening experience filming his first-ever scene with a fully suited Darth Vader. Kenobi will be following the legendary Jedi Master as he is forced into a new life of solitude on the sands of Tatooine under the name Ben Kenobi.
Not a whole lot of details are known but “The story revolves around the titular Jedi master as he lives a solitary life in exile on Tatooine. When Darth Vader sets up a program to hunt down the last remaining Jedi after Order 66, Kenobi is forced to leave Tatooine and embark on an adventure,” according to Screen Rant. Ewan will reunite with actor Hayden Christensen, who previously played the role of Anakin Skywalker. The pair will reprise their iconic roles for the first time since 2005’s Episode 3 “Revenge Of The Sith.”
Ewan McGregor admits he was scary to see Darth Vader on set
In McGregor’s appearance on “The Tonight Show,” he was asked how it felt filming a scene with one of the most iconic villains in movie history. Ewan then responded “It was frightening to see him again. I hadn’t acted with Darth Vader, you know. And I’ve been acting a long time, I’ve done a lot of stuff, but the first take with Darth Vader scared the **** out of me,” he said.
“It’s true. We rehearsed and he didn’t have the helmet on. Then I was getting made up and I guess they were sorting him out. And then they said, “Action!” and I’m walking down and I hear something, I turn around and ****, Vader’s coming at me. I swear to God, I just about **** my pants, really,” he continued. “I was, like, seven years old again. It was really genuine fear. I’ve made horror films and stuff before. Not frightening. But that was,” he added.
‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ begins streaming on Disney+ on May 27
McGregor has never filmed a scene with a fully suited Darth Vader, as “Revenge Of The Sith’s” version of Darth Vader is only in the suit for a few moments at the very end of the movie.
The “Obi-Wan Kenobi” show is something every “Star Wars” fan has been wanting for years, and one of TV’s most anticipated new shows. Now they can just feel the excitement in the air as fans everywhere continue to count down the hours. The first two episodes of “Kenobi” will be available to stream on Disney+ on Friday, May 27. As you patiently await the reunion of Hayden and Ewan may the force be with you, always.
