During a recent interview with Extra, Cattrall said that despite multiple mentions of Samantha during “And Just Like That,” she won’t be returning. “Samantha lives forever in DVD land and she’s as great as she ever was and I love her and I feel she is protected and life goes on.”
When asked if she would consider appearing on “And Just Like That” for Season 2, she said she was invoking “the power of the hard no.”
“I think I would ponder it more if I didn’t have something like ‘Queer as Folk’ or ‘How I Met Your Father.’ That’s kind of where I’m centered around. This feels like an echo of the past,” she said. “Other than the really wonderful feeling of — it’s rare in my business — people wanting more, especially at 65. That feels powerful, that I’ve left something behind that I’m so proud of. I loved her. I loved her so, so, so much. It’s tough competition. The original show is in all of our imaginations. But for me, it feels clean.”
For now, it seems that “Sex and The City” fans will have to be happy with watching Carrie, Charlotte, and Miranda’s stories as they continue to navigate love and life while leaning on one another.
