‘Black Mirror’ Season 6 Is Coming To Netflix: Here’s What We Know

“Black Mirror” is finally returning to Netflix after nearly three years. Season 6 of the hit anthology series is currently in the works for the streaming service. According to Variety, “Black Mirror” Season 6 is in the early stages, with the show currently casting now.

Fans may remember that Season 5 of the show only consisted of three new episodes. However, Season 6 will likely include more episodes. Sources tell the outlet that Season 6 will be bigger and better. Each episode will be considered an individual film. Past seasons of “Black Mirror” have featured episodes that run 60-plus minutes. So there is no reason to believe that Season 6 will be any different in that capacity.

Black Mirror Season 6 may include more celebrity cameos

“Black Mirror” Season 6 details and spoilers are being kept quiet for now. However, if the upcoming set of episodes is anything like the previous seasons, viewers can expect to see some celebrity cameos included. In past seasons, stars like Miley Cyrus and Topher Grace have appeared in episodes. So, fans will be gearing up to see which stars Netflix may be able to land for Season 6.

Movie Web notes that stars such as Lin-Manuel Miranda, Jake Gyllenhaal, Timothee Chalamet, Bryan Cranston, Jared Leto, Rosamund Pike, John Boyega, Danny DeVito, and Adam Driver have all been at the tops of fans’ lists for possible cameos.

Bringing “Black Mirror” back to Netflix could prove to be profitable for the streamer, which has fallen victim to some financial setbacks as of late, including a loss of about 200,00 subscribers during the first quarter, per PBS. However,  production is in the very early stages. This means that there is no word on when Season 6 may finally premiere on Netflix. In fact, we may have to wait until 2023 to see new episodes.

Will there be another Black Mirror interactive movie?

In addition to the previous 5 seasons of “Black Mirror,” the creators also released an interactive movie titled “Bandersnatch,” in which viewers got to make in-movie choices that replicated a choose your own adventure book. During an interview with Yahoo, writer Charlie Brooker previously teased another “Bandersnatch” style film in the future (via Movie Web).

“There are all sorts of other ideas came about during the making of Bandersnatch which we may get to in the future. The thing is, if you’re doing an interactive episode, it needs to justify itself. There needs to be a compelling narrative reason as to why you’re using that otherwise, it is just a gimmick,” Brooker said.

It may be a while until “Black Mirror” Season 6 begins streaming, but fans can look forward to what is shaping up to be an exciting set of episodes.
